Ten Steps to Avoid a Yakshave

  1. Realize that you’re stuck.
  2. Communicate.
  3. Walk away from your desk.
  4. Read the code until you find something you don’t totally understand.
  5. Research.
  6. Repeat 4 & 5.
  7. Whiteboard possible changes.
  8. Pick a change and try it.
  9. Realize your stuck again; try another thing from step 7.
  10. Profit.
